The papaya originally comes from South America. It is now cultivated in many tropical and subtropical countries. In 2019, India was the top producing country with 44% harvest share. The name "papaya" comes from the language of the Arawak Indians - also called Aruak or Arawak - and was already called "fruit of angels" by Christopher Columbus. The dried papaya cubes are ideal for snacking on their own or as a supplement to exotic nut mixtures. They are also a good source of vitamin C, A and valuable B vitamins.
